Saturday morning, Sept. 14, I was on I-295, northbound, in the right-hand driving lane, somewhere between Topsham and Richmond. That section was recently repaved. My ears picked up a sudden, very loud staccato-like exhaust noise – when a shiny black Dodge Charger or Challenger in the passing lane blew past everyone in the driving lane, driving about 100 mph. As far as I could see, there were no logos or markings to indicate that it was an unmarked county sheriff or a state police cruiser. I wonder if anyone called 911?
The Maine Department of Transportation is repaving our primary highways and replacing bridges that are 40, 50 and 60 years of age. Where are some unmarked Maine State Police cruisers on I-295, for one example, to corral these idiots who think newly paved highways are race tracks?”
