Richard A. Clancy
TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. – Richard A. Clancy, 84, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024.
Born in Portland, Maine, to Bernadette and Christopher Clancy, he grew up in Portland and graduated from Cheverus High School in 1958, where he was the captain of the basketball team and a star player for the Stags. He played collegiate basketball at the University of Tampa and St. Leo College.
After college, he joined the Peace Corps and volunteered in Ecuador. A longtime resident of Florida, Richard spent a fulfilling career in social work and counseling.
He was predeceased by his brother, Professor Christopher H. Clancy. He is survived by his two sons, Christopher and Timothy; his three grandchildren; and one nephew.
