I have known Amy Kuhn for many years as a parent, lawyer, town councilor and state representative (House District 111). She brings openness, intelligence and conviction to her work. If you have met her or worked with her, as I have, that is immediately apparent.

I am grateful for the work she has done for us, in particular for protecting reproductive choice. In her first term in the Maine House, she sponsored a bill to protect health care providers from retaliation by their malpractice insurance carriers for providing care to patients coming from states in which abortion care is restricted. Also, Kuhn cosponsored the governor’s bill (L.D. 1619) ensuring that reproductive health care decisions remain between patients and providers, without legislative interference. Her work to protect women and their caregivers gives me confidence that we are in caring, effective hands. Join me in voting to send Amy Kuhn back to the State House.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
