I wonder if the Press Herald’s Sept. 7 letter headline “Siding with the savages is a shameful choice” would be judged as racist hate speech had the target been Jews, not Palestinians?
Howls of rage for certain. In our own history, indigenous people targeted for genocide were similarly called “savages” by the colonizers aiming to exterminate them.
