
POLAND — Maine State Police announced Saturday afternoon that a victim of a Friday night shooting at 252 White Oak Hill Road has died.
Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said the unnamed victim was brought to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy is expected to reveal the cause and manner of death.
Moss said the incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. at the Poland address.

The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office and several area police departments were at the Poland Fire Rescue Department around 9 p.m. Friday night after receiving reports of a shooter who fired several rounds into a car earlier that evening.
Androscoggin County Sheriff Eric Samson and Chief Deputy William Gagne were at the scene along with police from Norway and other surrounding towns.

Witnesses at the Poland Fire Rescue Department described police examining a car that appeared to have two flat tires and several bullet holes.
Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputies called for assistance from the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit.
It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting.
State police said the investigation is ongoing and that there is no danger to the public.
