BIDDEFORD – Ian Michael Beagan, 34, of Biddeford, died on July 10, 2024, at his home after losing his long, hard fought battle with PTSD, mental illness and addiction.

He was born on June 17, 1990 in Boston, Mass. to Michael Ernest Beagan III and Mary Kathryn (Roop) Beagan.

He loved to travel; in 8th grade he visited the U.K. and in high school, South Africa. After returning from the service he traveled to Haiti to volunteer at a medical clinic serving the citizens of L’Asile. He spent a few years living in San Diego, Calif., and during this time ran a wilderness marathon in Texas.

He loved animals, (especially his rescue cat, Loki), Legos, music, reading, his family, and discussing current events,

He was passionate about reaching out to and embracing people on the margins of society—the hungry, the unhoused, the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, folks struggling with mental health and addiction and anyone who was lonely and needed a friend.

He was predeceased by his cousin, Sherri Roop; and uncle, Stephen Roop.
