Nomination papers will be available beginning Aug. 7 for residents wishing to run for three Scarborough Town Council seats and one Board of Education seat in November.

Council Chair Nick McGee’s and Councilor Don Hamill’s three-year terms will expire this year, so their seats will be on the ballot, as will the seat now belonging to Councilor Jean-Marie Caterina. Caterina, who is running unopposed for County Commissioner in November, told the Leader on Tuesday she will officially resign the week before the Nov. 8 election so the remainder of her term can be filled without the need for a special election.

The Board of Education seat left vacant with Carolyn Gammon’s resignation May 15 will be on the ballot, and the winner in that race will serve until June 2026.

There are also two seats up for election on the Sanitary District Trustees with terms expiring in 2027.

Nomination papers can be picked up at the Town Clerk’s Office at Town Hall. They must be submitted, with between 25 and 100 signatures of registered voters, by the end of the business day Sept. 5.

Those with questions or seeking more information can contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 730-4020.
