Victoria “Tori” Hill, previously the town of Bridgton’s community development director, is the new director of community and economic development for Yarmouth.
The Town Council was unanimously in favor of having Hill “join our family,” council Chair Randall Bates said.
During Hill’s time in Bridgton she had a hand in bringing about the town’s first affordable housing development supported by federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit subsidies.
She called Yarmouth a vibrant community and told the Northern Forecaster that she’s excited to work with a town that has a newly updated comprehensive plan.
“It’s always nice to have a fresh document that you can follow when you get into a role like this,” she said. She said she’s also excited to work with a town that has a Climate Action Plan, which will be a first for her.
Hill graduated from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine with a degree in policy planning and management.
Yarmouth Town Manager Scott LaFlamme said that the town conducted “a pretty exhaustive” search with a deep roster of candidates, but that Hill stood out as the obvious choice. Hiring for the role started in early June, and the panel included members of town staff and the Town Council.
Hill started on July 15, “right before the start of Clam Fest,” LaFlamme said.
As someone who “has filled this spot and another spot for the past few months, I am so thrilled to have Tori here,” he said.
LaFlamme was the town’s director of economic development for six years.
Hill is originally from Kennebunk and lives in Gray. She said she has a lot of family who live in Freeport and spends much of her free time in the Casco Bay area.
