Rosa P. Gerry

SUN CITY, Fla. – Rosa P. Gerry passed away June 25, 2024 in Sun City Center, Fla. She was born in Biddeford, Maine, August 22, 1928, the daughter of Joseph and Laura Constant Fortier. She lived in Saco, Maine most of her life, moving to Florida after retirement.

Rosa graduated from Thornton Academy in the Class of 1948. She was employed by the Saco Lowell Shops and Saco Defense Corp. for many years, retiring in 1988 as an Administrative Assistant to the Vice President and Plant Manager.

She was a member of the Professional Secretaries International (PSI) Portland Maine Chapter 46, the Southern & Northern Maine Women’s Golf Association, the Biddeford-Saco Country Club, the Falcon Watch Golf Association. In 1981, she had a Hole-in-One at the Salmon Falls Country Club, Hollis, Maine.

In 1981, Rosa and three golfing partners joined together to play in the Annual Walter Hagen Golf Tournament. The team defeated all other Maine participating handicap teams, qualifying to represent the State of Maine women’s handicap team to play in the National Walter Hagen Tournament December 11 and 12 at Disney World Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Maine was defeated by Florida; however, a good time was had by all.

She married the love of her life, Jovis L. Gerry, in 1951, and they had two children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jovis Gerry, and loving son, Brian Gerry.

Rosa leaves a daughter Carol and her husband Darrell Harp of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Amanda Gerry of Florida and Kyle Gerry of Maryland.

There will be a funeral mass to celebrate her life.

After cremation, (burial) interment will be in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco at the convenience of the family.
