Doris Yvonne Ewing, born and raised in Biddeford, Maine, passed away on July 1, 2024, following a long illness. 

Doris attended St. Louis High School and the University of Southern Maine. She spent her career working for the telephone company and devoted her retirement to traveling and volunteering with various organizations. She was a member of the United Baptist Church in Saco. 

Doris was known for her independence, generosity, and caring nature. She loved an adventure and traveled extensively, visiting Europe, Central America, Australia, and numerous locations across the United States.  Singing with Voices in Harmony and traveling internationally to perform with them brought her great joy. She loved to stay active and participated in multiple marathons in honor of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. 

Doris loved spending time with her grandchildren and friends, many of whom she had known since childhood. She loved to go dancing, make stained glass, and attend the theater.  She enjoyed helping others and spent countless hours volunteering. Her volunteer work included working at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and joining them on building trips to Guatemala, fundraising and speaking at events for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, making meals for families at The Ronald McDonald House, and volunteering with Special Surfers and Guiding Eyes for the Blind. She was also a long-time supporter of Mary’s Walk. 

She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Corcoran, her son-in-law, Jeremy Corcoran, and her grandchildren, Benjamin and Elizabeth Corcoran, all of Decatur, Georgia. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Rocray, and sister-in-law, Elaine Rocray, of The Villages, Florida, as well as her nieces, Carrie Nelson and Jennifer Ventola. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME  04005.  A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel.  Committal will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of the charities mentioned above, in honor of Doris’s dedication and passion for helping others.
