
Eighth grader awarded
Shea Cary has received the Secretary of State’s Eighth Grade Citizenship Award.
“Shea is one of 116 outstanding citizens who received this award for their contributions and commitment to civic responsibility,” said Rep. Barbara Bagshaw, R-Windham, who presented the award to Cary.
Students receiving the award are also recognized for their scholastic achievements and commitment to civic responsibility.

Story time with horses
Join the Windham Public Library and the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals for a kids story time with horses on Wednesday, June 26, from 2 to 3 p.m.
The children will be read stories and do their normal story time routine and then will have the opportunity to visit with the farm’s horses. The event is aimed at ages 2 to 7. The farm is located at 279 River Road. For more information, contact the library at 892-1908.

Movies in the park
The Parks and Recreation Department is putting on free movies at Dundee Park once a month this summer.
Friday, June 28, at 8:30 p.m., “Monster’s University” (2013) will be shown. There is free entry to the park at 79 Presumpscot Road after 8 p.m.
Snacks can be bought at the Snack Shack or families can bring their own. No alcohol is allowed. Go to windhamrecreation.com for a full list of park policies and the other movie dates.
Cancer support
The Windham Cancer Support Group is having its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 25, at 6:30 p.m. at the Windham Public Library, 217 Windham Center Road. The meeting is open to anyone who is touched by the disease including cancer patients, caregivers and cancer survivors.
