
Girl Scouts earn awards, over $19K in scholarships
Girl Scouts of Maine held its annual awards celebration last month and awarded over $19,000 in scholarships to Girl Scout ambassadors graduating from high school. Nine students received a total $19,500 from the Joanne Crepeau Future Leaders Scholarship fund. Sidney Allen and Astrid Akerman of Cape Elizabeth, Grace Longanecker of South Portland and Ariella Searfoss of Pownal were among the recipients.
Mackinna Campbell of Westbrook earned the Pinnacle Award, given to a Girl Scout who has received Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. Campbell’s projects were helping a local children’s hospital, creating and after-school dance program, and increasing teen political involvement.

$20K awarded to graduates by AFCU Foundation
The Atlantic Federal Credit Union Foundation gave local graduating seniors $20,000 total in scholarships. Applicants were considered based on essays, transcripts and community service.
Teagan Davenport from Freeport High School received the top award of $10,000. Kylie Crocker of Greely High School received $1,000.
