Strawberry Festival coming soon

Join friends and neighbors at the New Gloucester Historical Society’s 48th annual Strawberry Festival from 6 to 8 p.m. June 27 at the First Congregational Vestry, 19 Gloucester Hill Road.

Local farms like Pineland Farms will have strawberry treats, musician Jim Gallant will perform and a raffle will be held.

Father’s Day car show

The NG 250 Cruise-In on Father’s Day, June 16, is being held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beside Hodgman’s Frozen Custard at 1108 Lewiston Road. Presented by Knucklebusters Motor Club, the event is part of the New Gloucester 250th birthday celebration.

Shaker Village is open

The Shaker Museum, Shaker Store, grounds and Museum Shop are open through Oct. 14. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. The Shaker Sunday Meeting church service is held at 10 a.m. inside the Brick Dwelling House; it is open to the public.

Guided tours of the village are available throughout the day. For a one-hour guided tour inside two buildings and viewing a special exhibit, tickets are $15 for adults and free for those under 18; to view only the special exhibit, “Creating Chosen Land,” tickets are $7 for adults and free under 18. A self-guided walking tour that includes a brochure map with the history of each building is free.

Memory Lane Potluck

The G-NG Recreation Department is hosting “Memory Lane Potluck,” an event for guests to share food tied to family history, from noon to 2 p.m. June 26 at the First Congregational Church Vestry, 19 Gloucester Hill Road.

New land conservation

Royal River Conservation Trust and Maine Farmland Trust announced a 150-acre conservation easement including of one mile of Royal River shoreline on a Cobbs Bridge Road farm. The farm will remain under private ownership, with a conservation easement held by RRCT.

Both trusts contributed funds for the project, with support from backers like the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, the Maine Outdoor Heritage Fund and the Ram Island Conservation Fund of the Maine Community Foundation.

RRCT plans to build the 1.5-mile River Elf Trail on the parcel, beginning later this year and aiming to be completed next year. The public will be restricted to on-trail only, and some fishing will be allowed. To learn more, go to rrct.org.

Juneteenth closure
