In the May 22 Press Herald, Kennebec Journal reporter Keith Edwards has a story about the ambition of some to remove four dams here in Maine. Combined, they produce 6% of the power needed in our state. That’s huge. Clean, reliable power. Previous articles reveal growing concerns for a power shortage in northern New England.

On that same day, Press Herald reporter Stephen Singer had an article announcing the formation of the Maine Clean Energy Jobs Network by Gov. Mills.

This is insane. Spend millions of dollars to remove power-producing dams to appease some fishermen. Then form a commission to study how to get more clean energy.

Just another example of a solution looking for a problem.
