NORRIDGEWOCK — A Fairfield man was killed Wednesday when his motorcycle was struck on Ward Hill Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. by a turning pickup truck.
Police say Brock Peters, 29, was riding his 2005 red Yamaha motorcycle south on the road that connects Norridgewock and Madison when he was stuck by a northbound 2006 Ford F-150 truck towing a trailer driven by Frederick Landry, 79, of Norridgewock.
Somerset Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Michael Mitchell said Landry drove into the path of the oncoming motorcycle as he was turning into a driveway. Landry, who was not wearing a seat belt, was not injured.
“It looks like almost head-on collision,” Mitchell said.
Peters was transported to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan where Mitchell said he was pronounced dead. Peters was wearing a helmet.
Following the crash, Ward Hill Road was shut down and was expected to remain closed Wednesday evening while the accident was being reconstructed by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
