Westbrook firefighters contained a structure fire that was reported around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Westbrook Fire Chief Stephen Sloan said most of the damage to a multi-unit apartment building at 1042 Bridgton Road – also known as Route 302 – was confined to an exterior wall, but a second-floor apartment did suffer some smoke damage.

Everyone got out safely, Sloan said. The cause of the fire at the two-story building remains under investigation.
