YARMOUTH – Sandra M. Rothman, 74, of Yarmouth, passed away on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023. She was born April 23, 1949, in Portland, to Donald and Esther Flanders. She attended local schools and graduated from South Portland High School.

Sandy worked in insurance for over 30 years and throughout her career made friendships that lasted decades that she held dear.

Her compassion and empathy made her an excellent mother and grandmother, two of her greatest joys in life. It was her selfless nature that led Sandy to rescuing and adopting many animals over the years. She delighted in dog walks in Baxter Woods and the friends she met there. Sandy’s nurturing overflowed to the benefit of wild birds and plants as well. She cultivated several flower gardens outside and tended an indoor garden with some plants that age 50+ years.

She is predeceased by both parents; former husband, Peter Rothman, and a brother, David Flanders. She is survived by and will forever be in the hearts of her son Matthew (Brianna) Rothman of Cumberland and daughter Joanna (Taylor) Rothman of Portland; sweet granddaughters Holly and Ruby Rothman of Cumberland; siblings, Larry (Mary) Flanders of New Hampshire, Donald (Linda) Flanders, Billy Flanders, Richard Flanders, Susan Howes and John Flanders all of Maine; respective nieces and nephews.
