Michael Hallczuk Jr.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our brother, Michael Hallczuk, Jr. on Sept. 14, 2023 after a brief illness.

He was born on Feb. 20, 1951 to Michael Hallczuk, Sr. and Thelma (Broad) Hallczuk in Biddeford. He attended local schools and graduated from Biddeford High in 1969. Soon after, he married the love of his life, Helene Roy.

Mike joined the U.S. Air Force in 1971, and was stationed in many states across the U.S. He retired from active duty in 1991, then went into civil service for NASA at Edwards AFB, California, then to NASA – White Sands Test Facility in Las Cruces, N.M. He earned his 30-year pin, retiring in February 2023.

Mike’s great loves were his wife, Helene, and his boys Mark and Robert, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved his large extended family, coming home to Maine whenever he could to visit family and friends. He especially enjoyed going fishing with his brothers.

He was predeceased by his parents; and two sisters, Margaret Minihan of Biddeford and Sharon Tarbox of Saco.

He is survived by his wife, Helene; sons Mark of Nevada, Texas, and Robert of Las Cruces, N.M. Also, leaving behind three granddaughters, Christine (Hallczuk) Jones, her spouse Chad Jones, and their son, Drake of El Dorado, Ark.; Brittany Hallczuk and her daughter, Kiera Campos; and Alexis Hallczuk of Pflugerville, Texas.

He will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters Diane Smith, Susan Mosher, Lynn Tillson, Frank Hallczuk, Ryan Hallczuk; and many nieces and nephews.

Additionally, he will be greatly missed by the Roy Family. They all enjoyed his recent trip to Maine with Robert in August 2023.

A celebration of life is planned for spring.
