A very special shout-out to Hadley Johnson, a Cape Elizabeth High senior who just produced the new musical “Afterthought.” This talented young woman wrote, directed, acted in, composed the music and lyrics for, and choreographed all the delightful musical numbers for what can only be described as an Orson Welles type of theatrical debut.

I felt fortunate and indeed honored to have been in the audience at the packed-full school auditorium. After the performance, I was thrilled to speak with Ms. Johnson, and I told her I remembered her as a first grader at Pond Cove Elementary when I used to volunteer teach.

Hadley is going places and, in my view, she could possibly be the next Stephen Sondheim. Kudos to Hadley, her fellow collaborator and friend Eliza Green, and all the wonderful cast and crew of “Afterthought.”
