DURHAM – Dr. David Margolis PhD, 78, passed away on Sept. 22 after a six-week battle with COVID and pneumonia.

David attended Hofstra and the University of Bridgeport then received his PhD at the California School of Professional Psychology in 1979. He received his Doctorate and married his wife Gayle on the same day. He had a psychology practice for 43 years.

David was born Nov. 12, 1944, in New York City. David’s earliest love was spin-fishing, but after earning about fly-fishing and fly-tying there was no turning back. He loved anything related to the sport and annually took several trips to fly-fish with his friends. Other interests in his life were jazz and bird hunting with friends and his English Setters. One extraordinary trip took him to Scotland.

In 2017 he was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. He received wonderful treatment with Dr. John Winters at New England Cancer Specialists in Scarborough. Dr. Winters found a clinical trial for him at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, obtaining excellent results until his death from COVID.

He asked that any donations in his memory be made to one of those institutions.
