Morris Overby Sr.

WESTBROOK – Morris Overby, Sr. “Buck”, passed away on Monday, Sept. 18, 2023, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. 

Buck was born in Clarksville, Va. in 1944 and moved to Maine in 1967 to work construction. He worked for the New England Telephone Company for 20 years. After retirement he started a successful cleaning company with his wife and most recently worked for Ryder delivering papers for the Portland Press Herald.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing cards. His family enjoyed joining him for BBQs, big breakfasts, and loved his fried chicken. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loyal and faithful wife Joyce Overby, of 54 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Tina Cleveland (Adrian) Cleveland, son Morris Overby Jr. (BJ); grandchildren Kiarah (Warren) Cooper, Demonte Luter, Temperance Overby, Alaric Blake and Zadrian Cleveland. He is survived by his siblings Bettie Mosley, Gertrude Overby, Hallie Overby.

He was predeceased by his siblings Lucille Clay, Lazarus Overby, Paul Overby.

The family would like to thank the staff at Maine Medical Center and Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

Visiting hours will be held at Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook on Friday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. There will be a private graveside gathering for family.
