Philippe R. “Roger” Cyr

SACO – Philippe “Roger” R. Cyr, 77, of Garfield Street, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.

He was born in Biddeford, on Sept. 26, 1945, the son of Come and Odile Daigle Cyr.

Philippe attended local schools and graduated from Thornton Academy in 1965, where he was a State Champion in wrestling.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked as a shop planner at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and retired after over 20 years.

Philippe enjoyed maintaining his yard, spending time with his grandchildren and watching all New England Sports teams.

Philippe was predeceased by a daughter Angela Marie Cyr.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Linda Cyr of Saco,two sons, Jeffrey Cyr of Norfolk, Virginia, and Matthew Cyr of Saco and wife Kari, two daughters, Bethany Cyr of Biddeford and her husband Brian Shorey and Kristy Cyr of Saco, and four grandchildren, Michaela Bailey and her husband Brandon, Owen Gagnon, Cameron Cyr and Addyson Cyr.

Friends and family may visit from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco.

A memorial service will immediately follow at 11 a.m., at the funeral home.

The burial committal will follow at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, 143 Blue Star Drive in Augusta at 2 p.m.
