Beverly Ellen (Kelly) Farquhar

MILLINOCKET – Beverly Ellen (Kelly) Farquhar, 87, died in her sleep on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2023, at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born April 16, 1936, in Millinocket, the daughter of John Adrian and Gertrude (Nason) Kelly. Her father, expecting a boy, called her “Timmy” and it stuck, much to her chagrin. A graduate of Stearns High School, Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing, earning her RN and St. Joseph’s College of Maine for her BSN. Beverly served as a triage nurse in hospital emergency rooms in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Maine. She later became a school nurse-educator for the Scarborough School System. Not content with that, she also trained the Scarborough Volunteer Fire Department’s EMTs and became the first female member of the Rescue Squad. Beverly worked her way up to becoming the Executive Director of the National Association of School Nurses and served on panels with the Surgeon General of the United States. Beverly is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 63 years, Donald Farquhar of Millinocket; their daughter Kelly Farquhar Brooks and her husband Scott of Ambajejus Lake T1R9 and Millinocket; their son Scott and his Wife Annie (Grant) of Leavenworth, KS; four grandchildren, Caitlyn (Link) Di Emedio and her husband Jimmy of Windham, Matthew Brooks of Florida, Jack Farquhar of Raliegh, NC; and Rachel (Farquhar) Kopitke, RN and her husband Adam of Merriam, KS; two great grandchildren, Jacob Watson and Madison Farquhar-Almandares; two step great grandchildren, Alexandria Ferraioli and Zachary Santesse; sister Mary Jean Kelly and companion Joseph Mauffray; brother John Kelly and his wife Rebecca (Morrison); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Robert Kelly and his wife Carolyn and sister Patricia Morrison and her husband Lewis.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, with Pastor Terry Givens officiating at Millinocket Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family at The Big Moose Inn Millinocket afterwards.
