Patricia Ann Thomson
SCARBOROUGH – Patricia Ann Thomson, 81, passed away on Sept. 1, 2023 peacefully in her sleep.
Pat was born on March 14, 1942 to Jim and Anne Thornton in Atlantic City, N.J. Shortly after she graduated from Holy Spirit High School class of 1960, she met the love of her life, Jim Thomson, and they wed on Sept. 7, 1962. They went on to have three children, Jim, John, and Kelly, for whom Pat devoted her life to being a dedicated and wonderful mother.
A loving and supportive wife, Pat followed her husband wherever the United States Coast Guard sent him for the better part of 30 years, always making a welcoming and comfortable home for Jim and the children, even when on a small remote island in the western Pacific Ocean.
When the children were older, Pat filled her time working in the insurance and retail industries and was passionate about crafting. As a member of a local quilting club, Pat supported Project Linus providing hundreds of handmade quilts to children across the United States spreading warmth and kindness to so many in need. We will miss her tremendously, but find comfort in that she’s been reunited with Jim to celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary.
Pat was predeceased by her parents Jim and Anne; her husband, Jim; her brothers Jim and John, and her sister, Carol.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Jim and Jen, John and Heidi, and Kelly and Roland; as well as many grandchildren; siblings; nieces, nephews; and friends.
Pat’s family would like to thank the compassionate and professional staff at Harbor Chase Memory Care, Sedgewood Commons, and Compassus Hospice for the love and care they provided their Mom.
A celebration of life and reception will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 5 p.m. at the American Legion Stewart P. Morrill Post #35, 413 Broadway, South Portland.
