GORHAM – Joann F. Clark Pride, 82, of Gorham, passed away peacefully at Gosnell House on Aug. 21, 2023.

In addition to her parents, Joann was predeceased by her younger brother, Fred Clark Jr.

Joann was born on May 9, 1941, in Buffalo, N.Y. and at a young age, moved with her family to Peaks Island. She attended Portland High School and graduated in 1960. After graduation she settled in Gorham with her husband John “Skip” Pride Sr., the love of her life and best friend of 64 years.

She will be greatly missed by her husband, “Skip”; her daughter, Kathleen Pride West, son, John Pride Jr.; her cherished grandchildren Christopher, Megan, Alyson, and Cody; as well as her great-grandchildren Grace, Charlotte, Cullen, and Henry. She will also be missed by her sister, Helen Leighton; and numerous nieces and nephews; as well as countless friends and family.

Joann enjoyed many years of boating in Casco Bay with her husband and riding and caring for her horse, Tabay, and many other much-loved pets. She spent hours creating a beautiful and loving home with extensive flower gardens.

Joanne was a kind, genuine and caring person to everyone she met. Her door was always open, and the pot was always on. She cherished all creatures from her pets to all forms of wildlife. She truly enjoyed every minute of her life and all the people and creatures in it. She never greeted anyone without a warm welcome and a smile.

A special thanks to Gorham House and Gosnell House for the wonderful care provided to her.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland.
