GRAY – Arthur P. Locke, Jr., 76, of Gray, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023 at Maine Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Born in Portland, “Jr.” was the son of Arthur P. Locke, Sr. and Lois (Cobb) Locke of Gorham. He attended Gorham schools and graduated class of 1965.
On April 22, 1978, Jr. married Vicky L. (Verrill) and together they made their home in Gray, raising their two children, Josh and Nikki.
Jr. and Vicky purchased a timeshare in Orlando, Fla. where they took their children and later their granddaughters on many memorable vacations. He enjoyed trips to Aruba with family and friends. Annual family trips to Evergreen Valley where the family spent time snowmobiling, sledding and playing games was always something to look forward too! He was a hard working man but always made time to enjoy his family.
Jr. worked for Wyman’s Auto Body for many years and Paul Begin’s Collision Center where he took over the business. He eventually purchased land and built his own body shop on Route 100 in Gray, The #1 Collision Center. He spent many hours and many good laughs with friends and customers.
Jr. retired in 2015 and restored antique cars at his residence.
He is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 45 years, Vicky (Verrill) Locke of Gray; his son, Joshua A. Locke of Gray, daughter, Nicole L. Gieringer and her husband Nicholas; granddaughters Emma and Hailey Gieringer; brother, Anthony Locke and his wife Lindsay, sisters Sandra Mason, Sharon Creamer, Cindy Verrill and her husband David, brothers-in-law Mark Verrill and his wife Linda, Gary Verrill and his wife Dawn, sister-in-law, Stacy Varney and her husband Rodney; and many nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Maine Medical Center for the care and support they provided to Jr. and his family.
A time of visiting will be Friday Sept. 8, 2023 from 11 to 1 p.m., followed by the funeral at 1 p.m. at the Dolby, Blais and Segee Funeral Home, 434 River Rd., Windham. Burial will follow in the family lot in Hillside Cemetery.
