ohn E. Usher Jr.

HOLLIS – John E. Usher, Jr., 56, of Hollis, died Thursday June 15, 2023, at his home. He was born in Biddeford on June 19, 1966, the son of John, Sr. and Judith (Kimball) Usher.

John grew up in Hollis and graduated from Bonny Eagle High School in 1984. He married Laura Day in 1992 and together they had three children. Growing up John enjoyed wrestling and building anything with his hands, especially if it had a motor. He was extremely talented and could accomplish anything he set his mind to. In 1996, with the help of his friends and family, he was able to build the dream house for his wife and children.

John was always proud of his green lifted Chevy to which he and many others referred to as “Usher’s Crusher”. He also had a true passion for NASCAR and enjoyed a few years of racing at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway. In 1984, John began working at Tilcon/Pike Industries where he stayed for 16 years until he switched industries and began working for Route 202 Trailer Sales. It wasn’t long after he decided he wanted a business of his own and went on to start Usher Inc. in 2003. He built his business around his love of cars and racing where he provided service until the end of his life. He loved motorcycles and enjoyed traveling to Daytona for bike week. Those who knew him knew he loved to have a good time and everyone could agree he was the life of the party.

John was predeceased by his paternal grandparents Roland and Doris Usher and maternal grandparents Charles and Methel Kimball; as well as his stepbrother Tom Cheney.

John is survived by his father, John Usher Sr. and wife Beverly of Eustis, his mother, Judith Usher of Massachusetts; his beloved children, Ashley Usher of Gorham and granddaughter Lauren; Garrett Usher of Waterboro and Nicole Usher of Standish and grandsons Jack and Colton and their sibling due in September; mother of his children Laura of Limington, his sister, Kimberly Mooers and husband Mark of Lyman; his nephews Kyle Mooers and his family of Lyman and Kevin Mooers and his family of Westbrook. He is also survived by his stepbrothers Fred Cheney of Wisconsin and Robert Tripp of Saco and stepsisters Deborah Perkins of Limington, Barbara Maffei of New Jersey and Pamela Dugas of Waterboro.

We ask that whenever you take a moment to think of John, just remember, “it’s all good!”

There will be a private ceremony at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll, Heald and Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. To view John’s memorial page or share an online condolence, please visit http://www.blackfuneralhomes.com.
