Richard A. Morneault

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – MSGT Richard A. Morneault (retired) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Feb. 24, 2023 surrounded by family and loved ones.

Richard was born in Bangor, Maine on May 28, 1942 to Claude and Helen (Sawyer) Morneault. He was the second of their five children.

In 1961, after graduating from Cheverus High School in Portland, Maine, Richard immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force and spent 20 years serving his country before retiring in 1981. His next 20 years were spent serving as the mechanical engineer for the golf course at Petersen AFB, also in Colorado Springs.

Among his many military assignments, Richard served two tours of duty in Vietnam, one tour of duty in Korea, and received many awards and medals.

During his lifetime, Richard loved working on cars and trucks. His pride and joy was a total rebuild of a 1980 Chevy Silverado. Richard also enjoyed hunting, NASCAR, football (especially managing the Super Bowls’ pools and squares), trips to Cripple Creek Casino, and spending time with his Colorado Springs friends.

Richard is survived by: his two sons, Kent (Carmen) Morneault of Napa, Calif. and Scott Morneault of Burlington, Mass.; two sisters Claudette Beaumont of New Port Richey, Fla. and Priscilla Cutts of Windham, Maine, two brothers, John (Susan Meissner) Morneault of Windham, Maine and Ronald (Naomi) Morneault of the Philippines; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his extended family of friends in Colorado Springs, especially Lavonne Green and Jaysen Marchlewski.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Michelle Morneault Plant; and his brothers-in-law Paul Cutts and Donald Beaumont, Jr.

Richard’s family wishes to thank his extended family in Colorado for their friendship, support, and the love they gave to “Dickie” during the many years he lived there.

A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held at the Morneault\Cutts family plot in the Evergreen Cemetery, Portland, on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 11 a.m. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend.
