George Leighton Grant Jr.

STEEP FALLS – George Leighton Grant Jr., 80, passed away on June 17th, 2023. He was born in Hollis at the family farm on Bear Hill, on June 2, 1943, a child of the late George Sr. and Mariam (Bryant) Grant.

He attended Saco Schools including Thornton Academy; however, he moved with his family in his Junior year to South Carolina and graduated from Greenville High School. He went on to serve in the US Navy for eight years.

For over 20 years, George was employed by Patterson Dental as a dental service technician.

George was a farmer at heart and truly enjoyed growing vegetables, gladiolus, and being in his garden in general. He also enjoyed woodworking with his scroll saw and was a sports fan.

He was predeceased by his wife Victoria in 2017 and his five siblings.

George is survived by his children, George Grant III of Medway, Mass. and Andrea Blais and her husband Francois of Biddeford; his two granddaughters, Miranda and Jocelyn Blais of Biddeford; many nieces and nephews; and his gardening companions, Danielle Swasey and nephew George Drew.
