LISBON — Residents approved the $19.9 million school budget Tuesday by a vote of 155-82.

Residents who voted down the budget were asked to answer an additional nonbinding question. Of those who participated, 19 said they felt the budget was “too low” and 74 said it was “too high.”

Turnout for the election was low, with a little over 3% of the 7,120 registered voters participating, according to town data.

The budget is a 3% increase from this year’s $19 million.

However, due to an increase in state subsidy, school taxes will decrease for 2023-24. Taxpayers will be responsible for raising $4,000 less for the school budget than last year.
