There’s a trio of reasons to visit The Farnsworth in Rockland in the coming days. The community is invited to the Friday night opening reception of two exhibits: “Edward Hopper and Andrew Wyeth: Rockland, Maine” and “Alvaro’s World: Andrew Wyeth and the Olson House.” On Saturday, there’s a summer solstice celebration that features an outdoor art activity for all ages based on the new mural “You Showed Me Love” by Portland artists Rachel Gloria Adams and Ryan Adams. Then on Monday, June 19, admission is free all day in honor of Juneteenth.
Best Night Ever: Taylor’s Version

If you weren’t one of the lucky ones who got to see Taylor Swift live last month in Massachusetts, you can still have a fabulous time singing along with and dancing to a ton of her songs with fellow fans. Best Night Ever: Taylor’s Version returns to the State Theatre for another night of spinning hits, deep album cuts and requests. P.S. Can’t make it, but still want to boogie? Try the Gimme Gimme Disco dance party on Friday night at the State.
Westbrook Juneteenth Freedom Celebration

The federal Juneteenth holiday, to mark the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in 1865, is on Monday, but Westbrook is celebrating the day before. Speakers include Bishop Steve Coleman and Portland Poet Laureate Maya Williams. Other activities include a hair-braiding circle and Black hair celebration, discussion table led by Westbrook Middle School students, pickup soccer, face painting, choral performances and tunes from 107.9 WJZP. A free Juneteenth BBQ picnic will be served by Chef Pickens and Black Betty’s Bistro, so bring a blanket.
Vigorous Tenderness: A Summer Solstice Concert

Vigorous Tenderness invites you to take a stroll in nature unlike any other. The summer solstice is welcomed in with chamber music, a gorgeous outdoor setting and a true sense of community. The immersive concert focuses on marginalized voices in classical music while also featuring new and experimental sounds. As you move along the grounds of Range Pond State Park, you’ll come across musicians and vocalists performing pieces by John Cage, Hawe Kasse, Isabella Leonarda and other composers. Note: The trails are hard-packed and wide and able to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility devices.
