For all the talk of the explosion in the popularity of heat pumps, it hasn’t been enough to keep the lure of natural gas sales pitches from becoming the scourge of Portland streets.

I’m sure each individual who switches from oil to natural gas sees a personal financial benefit but from the daily massive traffic snarls from tearing up our streets, to the lumpy-bumpy paving patches left in their wake, to long-term climate costs of tying people to these infrastructure upgrades, it seems we could do better.
