May Britt Ingegard Backman Reslow

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – May Britt Ingegard Backman Reslow, 101, was promoted to glory at her home on Saturday, May 27, 2023.

May Britt was born in Arvika, Sweden on May 3, 1922, the daughter of Alrick and Astrid (Hanning) Backman. She immigrated at the age of seven to the Unites States. She met her husband, the late Lloyd F. Reslow, at the Swedish American Salvation Army in Providence, RI. She and her husband were long time members of the Corps.

May Britt worked many years as a social worker for the Salvation Army Day Care Center in Providence, RI. She played the piano, organ and the guitar. She was the String Band and Songster leader for the Providence Corps.

May Britt and her husband retired to Maine in 2011 to live with their daughter and were active members of the Old Orchard Beach Salvation Army Corps.

She is survived by her daughter, Christine M. Reslow Stickland and her husband Allister of Old Orchard Beach, son Leif F. Reslow and his wife Patti of East Greenwich, RI; six grandchildren Jennifer Stickland, Justina Stickland and Evelyn Monroe and her husband Christopher; Scott, Kyle and Leif-Erik Reslow; and nine great grandchildren, Meira, Hudson and Enok Monroe; Quinten, Xavier, Elias, Luke, Cidenna, Leif and James Reslow.

Friends and relatives may call from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Old Orchard Beach Salvation Army Corps with an 11:30 a.m. funeral service immediately following. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Arrangements are entrusted to Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, Saco, Maine.
