CARRABASSETT VALLEY — A Eustis man died Friday when the pickup truck he was driving crossed the centerline on state Route 27 and struck another pickup truck head-on, Police Chief Mark Lopez said.
Joshua Farnsworth, 42, of Stratton village was pronounced dead at the scene at the southern entrance to Spring Farm Road. He was driving a Nissan Frontier truck south, Lopez said.
John Drake, 55, of West Gardiner, who was headed north to his camp in an F-250 Ford pickup truck, received serious injuries, Lopez said.
The road was closed for about an hour.
Several Carrabassett Valley officers responded, along with fire departments from Carrabassett Valley, Eustis and Kingfield, NorthStar EMS ambulance, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police. The latter reconstructed the crash.
Carrabassett Valley Police Department is looking into whether speed and inattention were factors in the collision, according to Lopez.
