“I just finished ‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’ by Shelby van Pelt and had to recommend it. It is the story of Tova, a 70-year-old widow who lost her only child when he was just 18, many years ago. She took a job as a cleaner at the local aquarium to keep busy. She doesn’t need to work but feels useful being there. She befriends an octopus at the aquarium, and the story follows their wonderful interactions. The remarkably bright creature reference will warm your heart. The entire story was one of hope, second chances and love. — MARY MARSHALL, York
