Barbara Dean Smith

GORHAM – Barbara Dean Smith, 87, died peacefully on Monday May 22, 2023.

A lifelong resident of Gorham, Maine, Barbara was born July 13, 1934, to Arlie and Edna Merrill in Dexter Maine and was as graduate of Corinna Union Academy, class of 1954. Barbara retired from Emery Waterhouse as a keypunch operator and made quilts in her spare time. Many of which were donated to children at the Barbara Bush Childrens Hospital in Portland.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Malcolm “Smitty” Smith, in October of 2020, and is survived by two sons, Jeffery Smith and Kevin Smith, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

A private graveside ceremony will be held on Saturday July 8, 2023 at the North Street Cemetery in Gorham.
