Girl Scout Ambassador awarded scholarship
Charlena LaVallee, a graduating Girl Scout Ambassador from Gray, is the recipient of the Inaugural Level Joanne Crepeau Future Leaders Scholarship from Girl Scouts of Maine.
“Girl Scouts has made a difference in my life by teaching me what I believe (are) the most important skills I will ever need,” said LaVallee. “Through Girl Scouts, I have learned self-confidence, teamwork, perseverance, and most importantly, how to be a good leader.”
LaVallee also earned the Gold Award, the highest honor for a Girl Scout Senior or Ambassador can receive, for her project of creating a playground and outdoor educational spaces for Fiddlehead School, including an obstacle course. This award also earned her the Pinnacle Award, granted to Girl Scouts who earn all three Bronze, Silver and Gold awards.
She plans to study communication sciences and disorders at the University of Maine in the fall.
