Dr. Raymond Sirois

SHELBURNE, Vt. – Dr. Raymond Joseph Sirois, 89, dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away Dec. 9, 2022, at Wake Robin Continuing Care Retirement Community in Shelburne, Vermont. Ray departed this earthly life peacefully in the presence of family members.

Raymond was born in Sanford, Maine, to Edgar and Eva Sirois where he graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 1950. He attended Boston College and graduated in 1956 from the Georgetown School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. Following graduation from dental school, Raymond served in the U.S. Air Force and practiced as a military dentist, stationed in Ankara, Turkey and later Loring Air Force Base, in Limestone, Maine. Following his honorable discharge from the service, Ray started a dental practice in 1962 in Nashua, New Hampshire where he lived and practiced for 39 years. He served on the New Hampshire Board of Dentistry many years, chairing that board for several terms. In 2016, Ray and Marie relocated from Square Pond, Maine to Shelburne, Vermont.

Raymond was predeceased by his dear wife Marie Ross Sirois, his high school sweetheart,

who passed in 2016. Ray is survived by Carolyn Sirois and Gregory Zuch of Winchester, Massachusetts; Michael Sirois and Debra Heinz of Hinesburg, Vermont; Donna Sirois and Mike Logue of Indialantic, Florida; and Christopher and Lorrie Sirois of Greene, Maine. Twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive Raymond. All have benefitted greatly from what Ray, dad, Pépère modelled in life – he was a hard-working person of integrity with a deep faith and commitment to family.

Ray loved spending time in the outdoors and was a dedicated fisherman, hunter, skier, swimmer, and hiker. His was most passionate about flyfishing. Raymond enjoyed tying his own flies and shared many fishing trips with family members and friends to Alaska. An excellent craftsman, Ray enjoyed more time for woodworking in his retirement. Family and friends continue to enjoy the fine pieces he created.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m., at St.Thérèse of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church in Sanford, Maine. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery.
