Lac Thuong Pham
PORTLAND – Mr. Lac Thuong Pham, a Portland resident for over 31 years, passed away on May 7, 2023. He was born in Jan. 1, 1931 at Vinh Long Province, South of Vietnam, a son to the late teacher, Mr. Pham Cong Chuong and Mrs. Truong Thi Lanh.
Being an orphan at teenager, Mr. Pham was fully taken care of his five siblings until all of them grown up and settle down with their own life. Facing difficulties of the wars, Mr. Pham not only kept studying but also took several jobs to support his own family of eight children. For the humanity rights, he joined the Vietnamese Air Force, went to the States for training in the ’50s then worked for the U.S. Navy as a Civilian Construction Inspector after returning from military service.
After the Fall of Vietnam in 1975, he moved to the States and as destined, he overcame the hardship of immigrants to start the new life. Mr. Pham worked very hard, took long shifts, no vacation for years in order to bring in his children to the States. In addition, he always unconditionally helped people in Vietnamese community to find jobs, to adapt to the new life with culture differences, to support unfortunate people during their hard time.
Mr. Pham was a devoted husband, a good provider, a wonderful father who taught his children the value of education and contribution to the society. Mr. Pham was an animal lover, a creator of many projects around the house, a handy man who liked biking, singing and also had green thumb.
Survivors in addition to his loving wife for 67 years, Mrs. Huong Dang; are his daughters, sons and son-in-law, Lien Hoa Thi Pham, Lien Hoang Pham, Honglan Thi Pham, Bachhue Thi Key, John Key, Myhanh Thi Pham, Loc Tan Pham, Hongvan Thi Pham, Tai Tan Pham; Mr. Pham’s youngest sister, Xuan Mai Pham; nieces and nephews around the world.
Mt. Pham will be missed deeply by his family, relatives and friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, May 13 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at A.T. Hutchins Funeral and Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland. Cremation will follow on Monday, May 15. You may offer your condolences or share your memories at http://www.athutchins.com
