LEWISTON – David Raymond Murray, 78 of Lewiston, died Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at d’Youville Pavilion in Lewiston, following a long illness.
Born in Attleboro, Mass. on Jan. 1, 1945, he was the son of John I. and Arline H. (Pickett) Murray. Educated in Massachusetts schools, he was a Vietnam veteran, serving as a translator in the U.S. Air Force. After four plus years in the Air Force he received an Honorable discharge.
Following his military service, he moved to Maine and worked for several years at Sebago shoe. At Sebago, Dave was involved in the design area of the company. He had his own shop in Marblehead, Mass. and later in Maine created Cap Stone Leather. Custom Leather work of all types was his specialty. He was an elite leather craftsman. Dave was a very intelligent, creative and artistic person, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include a son, Theron Murray of Maine; two grandsons, Quinn Murray and Kaed Murray of Maine; a brother, Don Murray and wife Eileen of Massachusetts, two sisters, Susan Murray and Merrilee Haggerty of Massachusetts, a brother, Jon Murray and his wife Toni Ann of Connecticut; a good friend, Kathy Dunbar of Maine; and several nieces, nephews; great-nieces and a great-great nephew.
He was predeceased by his parents.
