Taina Gamory scored three goals and set up two, and top-seeded Johnson & Wales won the Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship on Saturday with a 10-6 victory over St. Joseph’s in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Wildcats (16-2) built a 4-1 lead in the second quarter and led throughout in a rematch of the 2022 GNAC final, won by St. Joseph’s.

Lydia Dexter had three goals and an assist for the second-seeded Monks (16-4). Brianna Paul added a pair of goals.

MIDDLEBURY 20, COLBY 6: Hope Shue scored seven goals and Jane Earley had three goals and four assists as the top-seeded Panthers (17-0) cruised past No. 4 Colby (12-5) in a NESCAC semifinal at Middlebury, Vermont.

Ally Franz and Annie Eddy scored two goals each for Colby.

UMBC 9, MAINE 8: The Retrievers (24-20, 13-7 America East) scored three runs in the top of the ninth to beat the Black Bears (23-17, 13-4 America East) in Orono.

Maine grabbed an 8-6 lead when Jake Rainess hit a three-run homer in the eighth, but the Black Bears couldn’t close it out as they lost a conference series for the first time this season.

Myles Sargent also homered for Maine.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 8, CENTRAL MAINE CC 4: Luke Wearne and Sam Keblinsky each went 3 for 5 as the top-seeded SeaWolves (21-15) won the Yankee Small College Conference championship with a victory over the Mustangs (26-14) at the Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach.

Kaleb Thompson was 3 for 4 for CMCC.

BOWDOIN FORCES GAME 3: The Polar Bears (16-14) scored on a throwing error to break a 4-4 and rallied past Wesleyan (17-17), 10-4, in Game 2 to force a deciding game in their NESCAC quarterfinal series at Middletown, Connecticut.

The teams meet again at 11 a.m. Sunday.

CJ Brito-Trinindad and Chris Burks had two hits for Bowdoin.

Wesleyan won Game 1, 8-4.

COLBY SWEEPS: Ryan Grace’s three-run homer highlighted a six-run fourth inning as the second-seeded Mules (24-10) beat the No. 3 Hamilton (18-15), 12-8, to sweep a NESCAC quarterfinal series at Waterville.

Genki Leclair went 3 for 3 and scored four runs for Colby, which will host the double-elimination four-team championship round next weekend.

In Game 1, Colby rallied with four runs in the ninth, walking off on Cole Palmeri’s RBI single for a 7-6 win.

SOFTBALL

BRYANT 3, MAINE 2: The Bulldogs (18-27, 6-12) tied the game in the seventh inning and pushed across the winning run in the ninth against the Black Bears (13-37, 4-15) in Orono.

Grace McGouldrick was 2 for 3 with two steals and a run scored, and Krista Francia had two hits and an RBI for Maine.

LASELL 2, ST. JOSEPH’S 1: Brianna Gendreau broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the fifth inning, and the Lasers (26-15-1) eliminated the Monks (21-18) in a GNAC semifinal at Providence, Rhode Island.

Meredith Pence (12-4) closed out her collegiate career by pitching a three-hitter with three walks and nine strikeouts. The Monks got their run in the third inning when Sadie Tirrell singled, stole second and scored on a single by Olivia Howe.

COLBY SPLITS: The Mules (21-13, 8-8 NESCAC) grabbed the lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and added four more in the fifth in an 8-0 win over Amherst (24-12, 12-6), salvaging a doubleheader split at Amherst, Massachusetts.

Jackie Hill went 2 for 4 with a two-run homer and drove in three runs for Colby, Chloe Wilcox added a single and two doubles, and Amanda Cabral had two hits.

Rachel Lovejoy’s RBI single drove in Abby Moravek in the top of the seventh as Amherst won the opener, 1-0.

BATES LOSES TWICE: Annika Haley scored on a Tiffany Stowers fielder’s choice to break a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth, Abigail Alpers scored on a sacrifice fly, and Trinity (10-19, 5-10) finished a doubleheader sweep of Bates (14-14-1, 6-9) at with a 5-4 win at Hartford, Connecticut.

Katherine Merisotis led Bates with two hits and three RBI.

In Game 1, Trinity opened the scoring with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth and went on to a 4-2 win.

UNE SWEEPS: Emma Koenig’s RBI triple sparked a four-run fifth inning as the University of New England (11-23, 8-8 Commonwealth Coast) finished a sweep against Gordon (18-22, 7-11) with an 8-0 win at Biddeford.

Grace Tutt was 2 for 3 with three RBI. Abby Walsh added three hits.

Kara MacDonald threw a five-hitter as the Nor’easters won the opener, 5-1.

USM LOSES TWO: Alyssa Vilchez and Sarah Remillard had RBI singles in the fifth to lead Eastern Connecticut State (26-8, 16-0 Little East) to a 3-1 win over Southern Maine (19-19, 10-6), sealing a doubleheader sweep at Gorham.

Hannah Sheilds scored on a Dory Kulis single in the bottom of the fifth for USM.

ECSU took Game 1, 1-0 with an unearned run in the seventh.

BOWDOIN LOSES TWO: Tufts (35-3, 17-1 NESCAC) scored five runs in the fifth to beat Bowdoin (19-19, 9-9), 5-0, and sweep a doubleheader at Medford, Massachusetts.

Tufts won 10-2 in Game 1. Katryna Dukehart had two hits and drove in both runs for the Polar Bears.
