Walker Friends need books
Friends of Walker Memorial Library is seeking book donations for its annual sale June 3 during Westbrook Together Days.
“We are especially low on children’s books in good, clean condition,” Kelly Day of the Friends group said in an announcement.
Donations can be delivered to the library between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, and May 13.
The book sale is a fundraiser to support the Friends’ annual Bucks for Books $1,000 Westbrook High School or Vocational High School college scholarship.
Class of ’73 reunion
Westbrook High School’s class of 1973 will celebrate its 50th reunion from 5-11 p.m. July 22 at the Elks Club, 1945 Congress St., in Portland.
The cost will be $60 per person.
As a bonus reunion event, class members are invited to a gathering from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23 at Crescent Beach State Park in Cape Elizabeth.

Veterans coffee
Coffee and information sessions for veterans continue at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, at the Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St. Veterans’ Service Officer Arty Ledoux will update veterans on issues relevant to them and veterans can share stories about their service to the country.
50 years ago
The American Journal reported on May 2, 1973, that sisters Julie and Dawn Marie, daughters of Albert and Linda Moreau of Brown Street, each celebrated birthdays. Julie had turned 4 April 26 and Dawn Marie 2 on April 13.
