William “Bill” E. Bassett
CLAREMORE, Okla. – William “Bill” E. Bassett, 55, passed this life at his home with his sister Jana Bassett-Fulkerson by his side in Claremore, Oklahoma. He entered this world on Feb. 11, 1968, in Portland, Maine, to his parents Malcolm O. Bassett and Janet M. (McCullum) Bassett.
Bill lived many places including going from Maine, New Jersey, New York, California, the Island of Guam, back to Maine, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, back to Massachusetts, Virginia, Oklahoma, and Florida. Bill was known for his great sense of humor and his loving personality. He had a life well lived and was blessed in many areas of being extremely successful.
While living in Massachusetts for the second time, Bill continued traveling as a truck driver. During this time, Bill pursued entrepreneurial interests to include real estate and ownership of Mustang Tire and Lube in Oologah, Okla. He finally established roots in Claremore, Okla. where he resided for the last 20 years. He also had property in Port Charlotte, Fla., which is where he would spend half his time. Bill was blessed with being able to retire at the young age of 48. While enjoying life between Oklahoma and Florida, Bill met many people who became extended family to him. Bill expressed he “lived a great full life and was at peace”.
Bill was preceded in death by his father Malcolm O. Bassett and his mother Janet M. Bassett.
He is survived by his sole immediate family member, his sister Jana M. Bassett-Fulkerson, along with additional family members in Maine and Connecticut; and well loved friends in several states to include islands.
A mass in Bills honor will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church located at 1304 N Dorothy Ave., Claremore, OK 74017. A celebration of life party will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Elks Lodge located at 1820 Summit Drive., Claremore, OK 74017.
Committal of Bills remains will be held on June 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Cemetery located at 1461 Broadway South Portland, ME 04106. Following the committal a celebration of life party will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagles located at 184 St. John St., Portland, ME 04106.
