Amber Elizabeth Beal, 77 years, a resident of Kennebunk, died Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.

She was born in Kennebunk on Jan. 20, 1946, a daughter of Philip W. and Emily E. (Brooks) Lord. She graduated from Kennebunk High School and worked at Kesslen Shoe in Kennebunk, Farrington’s Clothing Store in Kennebunk, Nike Shoe in Saco and at the GlenMor Restaurant in Kennebunk as a cashier for many years.

She was an avid beachgoer and enjoyed reading. She loved dancing and going roller-skating. In her younger years she was a Powder Puff Driver at Oxford Plains Dragway. Amber mostly treasured spending time with her family, and her grandchildren were the center of her life.

She was predeceased by her parents and by a brother, Philip Lord.

Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, Dale V. Beal of Kennebunk; son Richard Beal (Deborah) of Kennebunk; sisters Phyllis Barker, Deborah Ham, and Bonnie Butler; brothers Ben and Steven Butler; granddaughters, Erin and Erica Beal and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, 04043 with the Rev. Carolyn Lambert officiating.
