Seed and plant swap

Gardeners big and small can come to the Crossroads Community Church at 14 Lewiston Road 1:30-4 p.m. Saturday, April 29, for a seed and plant swap. Bring any seeds or plant clippings to trade and take something new home with you.

Another rabid raccoon

A raccoon found on a private property in town tested positive for rabies on April 11. Rabies is a fatal but preventable disease that can be transferred between animals and humans through scratches or bites.

If you or a pet is scratched or bitten by a wild animal, wash well with soap and water and call the Maine Game Warden or state police. If it was a domestic animal like a dog or a cat, you can call Gray’s animal control officer at 893-2810.

Cheering camp

Kids in grades pre-K through 8 can join a weeklong G/NG Diamonds cheerleading camp this summer at Memorial Elementary School in New Gloucester.  The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 10-14, and participants will be divided by grade level into five groups. In August, the campers will perform at the New Gloucester Community Fair. The cost is $160. Visit grayrec.com to register.

Legion cleanup, bean supper

The American Legion Post 86 Earth Day cleanup has been rescheduled for May 6 at 8 a.m. Volunteer to help make it happen. Food is provided. Visit the Post 86 Facebook page or call 657-4884 for more information.

That evening, the Legion’s Auxiliary will put on bean supper from 5-6 p.m. at 15 Lewiston Road. The menu includes beans, chop suey, red hot dogs, coleslaw, casseroles, homemade biscuits,  punch and coffee. The cost for adults is $12; $6, ages 5-11; free under 5.
