The American Journal reported April 4, 1973, that a proposed auto racing track in Buxton caused a stir in Gorham. The Gorham Town Council named three of its members to a committee to see whether Gorham could take any action to oppose the proposal after their residents complained about impact on water, air and traffic, besides land values. The article did not identify the location of the proposal.
