Linda Ann Smith

AUBURN – Linda Ann Smith, 74, of Auburn, passed away on Feb. 5, 2023 while in nursing care in Auburn.

Linda was born in Worcester, Mass. March 9, 1948 to Howard E. and Annette Smith. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy and then Salter Secretarial School in Worcester, Mass. Soon afterward she moved to Maine. Maine is the place the family spent many happy summer vacations on Peaks Island and at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport.

She lived many years in Westbrook and worked at Data General and then Sam’s Club.

She loved cats, country music, singing, and dancing. Without question, Linda loved her cat, Blossom. And Blossom loved her (and nobody else).

With her health in decline, Linda moved to Clover Manor in Auburn. Family friend, Jim Parker, who works at Clover, took wonderful care of her making sure she was often in her happy place, outside in the Dublin Garden, watching the birds and chipmunks.

Linda was predeceased by her parents. She leaves her brother, Howard P. “Pete” Smith and his wife, Gudrun Cobb of Portland; cousins Ginnie Gosselin of Buxton, Frank Messier in Virginia, Dean Smith in New Jersey, and Carol Trimble in Pennsylvania.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held later this spring and burial is at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland.
