BIDDEFORD – A traffic stop on Main Street two weeks ago resulted in the arrest of a Saco man on felony drug charges.
Biddeford Police Officer Shawn LaBrecque conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Main Street that was occupied by several people, police said in a statement issued March 23. One of the passengers in the vehicle was identified as Alexander Shoureas, 22. As a result of the stop and subsequent investigation, Shoureas was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs, a Class A felony, in connection with the March 18 incident.
Biddeford Police allege individual baggies of cocaine were located in Shoureas’ possession, as well as larger bags of suspected fentanyl. The quantity of drugs seized was not available. Police said they seized more than $1,000 from Shoureas.
Police said Shoureas is currently on probation for Class B felony unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of fentanyl powder, a Class C felony.
Shoureas was taken to to the York County Jail in Alfred he remains as the case progresses. A judge set bail of $15,000 on the aggravated trafficking charge, but no bail was allowed on the probation violation charge.
