Keith James Asher

YARMOUTH – Keith James Asher, 87, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023.

“Jim”, as he was fondly known was born in North Vassalboro to Keith Murray Asher and Eunice Vaughn Jones on Nov. 15, 1935. Jim was raised in Yarmouth with his sister, Jean.

Jim married the love of his life, Arlene Shirley Sanborn in Portland on June 29, 1957. They had three girls, Laurie, Lynn and Lisa who they lovingly raised on Cumberland Foreside and Yarmouth, respectively.

Jim took great pleasure in spending time with his family in the great outdoors. His hobbies included woodworking, hunting, rollerblading, camping, boogie boarding, and fishing.

Jim worked at Bryant Press, Mercy Hospital, Sanborn’s Express, Southern Maine Technical College and Goodwill.

Jim was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Shirley; and great-granddaughter, Addison Doughty.

He is survived and missed dearly by his daughters Laurie, Lynn and Lisa; grandchildren Anthony (wife Jessica), Dylan James Asher and Benjamin Faulkner, Vaughn (wife Tia Marie) and Mackenzie Doughty; and great-grandchildren Logan and Zoey Asher. Jim is also survived by his longtime sweetheart, Jan Asher.
