The Scarborough Land Trust and the Amphibian and Reptile Trust International are collaborating for a program on vernal pool wetlands, the breeding habitats for salamanders and frogs.
Herpetology expert Greg LeClair will lead the one-hour program at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at Broadturn Farm in Scarborough. LeClair created and manages Maine Big Night, a community science project focused on monitoring and assisting road-crossing of amphibians throughout the state.
The workshop is for ages 16 and up, costs $5 per person and pre-registration is required at scarboroughlandtrust.org. Boots are recommended because most of the program will be held in the wetlands.
